The Shea Physical Therapy and Hand Therapy Services Team

Shea Physical Therapy (SPT) was founded in 1988 by Dan and Debbie Shea. They graduated from Florida International University, Miami, Florida in 1982 and Dan followed Debbie to Corpus Christi where her family was stationed in the Navy.

Dan worked at Memorial Medical Center as Director of Rehabilitative Medicine, and Debbie joined Ada Wilson as a pediatric physical therapist. Shea Physical Therapy's first location was in the Thomas Spann Clinic on South Brownlee. The office was located here until 1992 when SPT moved to its current facility on Everhart.

The clinic's 10,000 square foot facility includes nine licensed therapists and two athletic trainers. In 1993, Hand Therapy Services were added to the facility under the direction of Sheila Heflin, OTR, CHT. She oversees two additional OT's: Kathryn Gonzalez and Matthew Hilliard who are studying to become Certified Hand Therapists as well.

Dan recognized the strong qualities in different therapists and staff inviting them to join the clinic. Clinical Education Director Ria Strowbridge, PT is a Dutch-trained therapist bringing a strong orthopaedic, manual therapy and vertigo correction approach. Diane Drysdale, PT and chief therapist arrived in Corpus Christi from Canada with expertise in sports and general orthopaedics. Paige Christensen, PT, and compliance officer provides a neurorehabilitation and amputee emphasis to the group. Joyce Hamende, PTA, has worked with Dan since 1982 and Shana Walker, PTA, brings a strong background in orthopedics to the group.

Shea Physical Therapy has been blessed and humbled by the ongoing support received through the physicians that entrust their patients to its care. Shea Physical Therapy is the recipient of the Better Business Bureau Ethics Award and was given the 2002 Outstanding Physical Therapy Practice Award by the Texas Physical Therapy Association.
